چکیده
The light propagation in optical waveguide must be able to maintain low loss, coupling loss and scattering condition, especially the junction. In this research, a spot size converter is proposed preserve lowest loss. This composed of single mode fiber (SiO2) including inversed taper. input signal from launched into photonic integrated circuits then coupled Si-Slab waveguide. Furthermore, linear form with length dependence has been studied obtain optimal position chip analyzed efficiency it. purpose research procure converter. simulation result shows 0.62 dB 0.24 on TE TM condition respectively. Along increase taper length, obtained tends decrease as well. So that, it can assumed design 100 μm provides highest efficie ncy.

Mode-size converter with high coupling efficiency and broad bandwidth.
An ultralow coupling loss and broad bandwidth fiber-to-waveguide mode-size converter is demonstrated for nano-scale waveguides on SOI platform using CMOS technology in this paper. The mode-size converter consists of a cantilevered PECVD SiO(2) waveguide and a-Si nano-tapers by removing the adjacent SiO(2) layer and underlying substrate Si. The a-Si waveguide is located at the center of the cant...

A new concatenated configuration of optical fibers is proposed to improve misalignment tolerance and working distance in a free-space optical interconnection. The structure is composed of three segments: a thermally expanded core fiber, a coreless silica fiber, and a claddingless graded-index fiber. A numerical analysis for the design of each fiber segment is performed completely, and the devic...

We demonstrate that the light excitation and capturing efficiency of fluorescence based fiber-optical sensors can be significantly increased by using a CPC (Compound Parabolic Concentrator) tip instead of the standard plane-cut tip. We use Zemax modelling to find the optimum CPC tip profile and fiber length of a polymer optical fiber diabetes sensor for continuous monitoring of glucose levels. ...
